Gold Coast Film Festival Dance Classics, Gilltrap Park Kirra–April 20 – 21

 

From toe tapping to twirling and tango, Dance Classics at Kirra will bring two free dance filled films to Gilltrap Park on 20 and 21 April.

As part of the Gold Coast Film Festival, this is the second year the Southern Gold Coast has participated in the city wide Film Festival program.

Friday 20 April will see dance demos, food trucks and entertainment followed by Australia’s most famous dance movie: Strictly Ballroom. Saturday 21 will be a fun-filled family affair with tap dancing, food and the classic award-winning film featuring the cutest little tap-dancer of all: Happy Feet.

Anzac Day Dawn Service, Elephant Rock Currumbin–April 25

 

On April 25 at 5am, the ANZAC Day Dawn Service held at Elephant Rock, Currumbin and hosted by Currumbin RSL will once again be a major Australian Event.

Anzac Day is an opportunity to remember and revere all those who have served for our freedom from World War I through to current conflicts.

As the biggest service on the Gold Coast, last year saw more than 20,000 people join the commemorative ceremony.

Cooly Classic Ocean Swim, Coolangatta–May 13

 

Join swimmers from all over Australia as they flock to the Southern Gold Coast on 13 May to compete in the region’s premier ocean swim.

The Cooly Classic offers competitors a rare opportunity to conquer three of Australia’s most revered surf breaks – Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta and Kirra.Whether you’re an elite swimmer looking for the ultimate 3km surf challenge, a newcomer to ocean swimming who better suits the 1km or 2km distance, or a junior wanting to experience the waves in the 1km race, the Cooly Classic has an option for you.

 

 

Cooly Rocks On, Coolangatta – June 6 – 10

 

Music, dancing, cars, nostalgia and good old-fashioned family fun are all coming back to Coolangatta as the iconic Cooly Rocks On™ returns from 6 – 10 June.

Set on a combination of outdoor stages and venues within Coolangatta’s beachside streetscape, the free five day event has become Australia’s largest rock’n’roll and nostalgia festival.

In 2018, everyone’s favourite events will be back including the Show ‘n’ Shine, Car Cruises, Poodle Parade, Retro Markets, Dance Championships, Miss Cooly Rocks On™ and the signature Street Parade.
