Handpicked Group and goa announce the inaugural Burleigh Festival. The free event will take place this coming September at Justin Park, Burleigh Heads. A celebration encompassing the best Burleigh has to offer across three culturally rich days of exquisite eating, drinking and entertainment showcasing the very best of the coastal Queensland paradise.

Burleigh Heads (named after its large headland) belongs to the Kombumerri people and for decades has been the epitome of cruisy surf, great eats and an incredibly unique local atmosphere. This year, Burleigh will open its identity in a way that hasn’t been done before and a group of likeminded locals are the brains behind the invitation.

At the centre of the event, Burleigh Festival will showcase the very best signature dishes from a range of restaurants based in the area. Tropic, famously nestled on the water’s edge and soaked in sun, delivers a fresh take on Mediterranean, whilst Tommy’s offers mouth watering Italian driven by passion and deep love for authenticity. Maman, Costa Taco and Tarte will also step into the culinary spotlight to round out the unique offering. Each destination restaurant will be serving their signature dishes collectively making it an all star menu. World class surfing will return to Burleigh Hill with the inaugural Burleigh Festival King and Queen of the Point surfing competition proudly hosted by Burleigh Boardriders and Summer of Surf.

Taking place Saturday and Sunday the 17th and 18th of September at Burleigh Hill, Australia’s best surfers will battle it out to be declared the Kind and Queen of Burleigh Point and provide world class surfing entertainment a stones throw from Burleigh Hill. The event will see four-person 20 heats with athletes’ two highest waves counting towards their overall heat total. Divisions include open men and open women and will feature a 5 thousand dollar prize pool. One of the pillars of the event will be the beautiful selection of award winning wines. Burleigh has historically been a destination for wine drinkers with every restaurant taking particular care when curating their wine lists by the beach. Local brand Naked Bunch have a particularly grungy-punk take on their wine offerings with bold reds and crystal like white wines. Joining them on the podium will be Flor Grocer showcasing their ethically sourced, authentic & vital wine selection. They will conjointly stand tall alongside Jackson West wines, who are quite simply, a knowing, a moment, a need and a stunning drop.
