BILLY ELLIOT AT THE STAR GOLD COAST TILL AUGUST 13TH.

It was the Queensland Premiere of the Tony Award winning BILLY ELLIOT The Musical last night at The Star Gold Coast, that opened up another fantastic musical to his past credits of productions presented by not other Matt Ward Entertainment.

This is based on the international smash-hit film and featuring the score by music legend “Elton John” and it”s story is set in a northern English mining town, against the background of the 1984 miners’ strike and we see a young boy’s struggle against the odds with his family who sets out to make his dream come true in becoming a ballat dancer!

Last night I was moved by the story told on stage that was presented in such amazing energy througout the night in song and dance with a stellor cast combined. Billy Elliot was played by Harrison Smith last night and he sure caught the heart strings as to his performance. Over the season it will be shared by two others who are equally talented being Diesel Batson, Ethan Dahl. Tim Hill the director of show was very proud of the entire show and casting and hard work put in by all, and at the after party expressed that this story was very powerful message that it sends out what he feels is unconditional love!

Debora Krizak, who plays the dance teacher is a standout and there are some fine moments on stage that she gives in this production with a higlighted dance scene with young Billy and Ben Trigger that is a romp of fun. Keith Hawley is choreograph and again exceptional work he has done here with all the cast. One to watch out for also is Billy gay friend Michael played by Lachlan King who steals the show on couple of occasions over the night.

James Shaw who plays the dad and playing his son Daniel R Nixon brother to Billy are indeed powerful to watch.

Not to miss out mentioning is Gold Coast vertern theatre actor Kate Peters is grandma and is a delight!

Congratulations to the prodcuers, this production sure had them challanged as Matt said at one stage it was not looking good but they got through it and thanks to their sponsors that they have the belief in Matt who alwyas delivers great productions. I suggest you secure ticekts quickly at the The Star Gold Coast as it has limited season till August 13th. Get ready for indeed a ride of emotion’s as well as fine entertainment.
