Gold Coast guitarists and rockstars grab your guitars, THOSE WHO ROCK is back!

Registrations are now officially open for Gold Coast rockstar enthusiasts and guitarists to grab a guitar and get involved for the opportunity to rock out on HOTA’s outdoor stage in this epic community event.

Presented by HOTA, Home of the Arts and City of Gold Coast, Those Who Rock 2024, features bona fide Aussie rock legends, including Kram (Spiderbait,) Dave Gleeson (The Screaming Jets,) Patience Hodgson (The Grates), KISSPERIENCE, all hosted by Australian television personality and radio presenter, Myf Warhurst.

Created by internationally acclaimed artist, Joseph O’Farrell (JOF), Those Who Rock is a participatory arts and community-focused event that aims to bring together people of all ages in the ultimate celebration of all things rock and roll.

Local rockstars will join a series of free community workshops which will be held from May to June in Community Centres across the Gold Coast from Pimpama to Tugun, to learn and rehearse a set list of iconic rock songs before taking to the stage for the huge finale concert on the outdoor stage.

Gold Coast City Mayor, Tom Tate, said ““This is a must-see event for all Gold Coast rockers. It’s an incredible show of community spirit, where locals have the opportunity to share the stage with rock royalty.

THOSE WHO ROCK is not just a concert – it’s a celebration of our city’s vibrant music culture. Don’t miss out!”

Experience Gold Coast CEO, John Warn, said “Bringing this amazing family friendly Gold Coast community event to the outdoor stage not only showcases Gold Coast talent but also highlights that HOTA is a hub for incredible and vibrant events.”

Those Who Rock creator, Joseph O’Farrell (JOF) said “In 2022 we saw 369 everyday Gold Coasters rock out on the HOTA outdoor stage! I cannot wait to do it all over again with a new setlist, a host of rock icons and a whole heap of pyrotechnics!”

“If you missed out last time, this is your chance to be involved! There’s no audition, sign up and you’re in. We are all about inclusion and feeling the community buzz that comes with rocking out on one of the best stages in the country!”

In 2022 hundreds of Gold Coasters took to HOTA’s massive Outdoor stage to perform alongside their rock heroes for a night to remember and it’s back with an all new lineup of classic rock anthems, starring legends of the Australian music industry, and we are calling on the Gold Coast to join them as part of Those Who Rock 2024!

Participants of all ages will need to bring their own guitars and attend a minimum of two workshops, plus a rehearsal and the main concert.

Workshops start from May 30 and will be held at Tugun Community Centre, Robina Community Centre, Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre, Runaway Bay Youth Centre, Helensvale Cultural Centre, Broadbeach Community Centre and Pimpama Community Centre.

Those Who Rock concert will be held on Saturday, July 6 and tickets for the performance are also on sale now.

Those Who Rock is presented by HOTA, Home of the Arts and City of Gold Coast and supported by Everybody NOW!.
