The Time for Talk is over

WORDS: Wildcat PHOTOGRAPHY freepik.com

I really enjoyed taking in a number of Titans and Suns games this season.

The atmosphere at both Robina and Carrara was terrific and what struck me most was the number of families enjoying the action.

It’s a great day or night out for the family, and footy bosses are doing everything in their power to garner that family connection.

Which brings me to the elephant in the room. And in true Wildcat fashion, I won’t beat around the bush.

It’s time, gentlemen. Time to stand up and be men, not mice.

The Suns and Titans have two of the best coaches in the competition. Des Hasler and Damien Hardwick are both multiple premiership-winning coaches.

They know what’s required to build a premiership-winning team.

Both had acceptable first years in the role. Both teams missed the finals, but only just.

Both teams showed flashes of brilliance during the 2024 season, and on their day, proved they were capable of beating any team.

But both clubs once again failed where it counts – making finals footy.

It has to stop. And it must stop now.

Winning is a culture. Winning is a habit. Winning is about hating the losses more than you enjoy the wins.

Penrith in the NRL has it in spades. So too Collingwood in the AFL.

It’s about finding that something extra when the chips are down. Finding a way to win in tight games.

Standing up for your club, your family, your fans and yourself.

The time for talk is over. The Suns and the Titans have the players, the resources, the fan base and the coaches to play finals footy in 2025.

If they don’t, they are simply prima donnas. Gunnas. The challenge is there. The time for saying “Oh but we’re still building” is over.

The building blocks are in place. The people of the Gold Coast have waited too long for their footy franchises to reward them.

They are baying for success.  Demanding success. That means footy finals next season and a premiership within three years.

Nothing else will suffice.

Planet America

Are you a Donald Trump or Kamala Harris fan? Do you care? Does Australia need to care?

Well, the answer is simple. Of course, we need to care. The United States is our strongest and most enduring ally, and if ever we are subjected to foreign aggression, you’d like to think they’d be here beside us in a jiffy.

A Kamala Harris presidency would be a disaster for not just the US but the rest of the world.

She would be the most left-wing president the United States has ever seen. What’s that saying? Go woke and go broke.

America is already divided. A win for Harris would sow the seeds of more division.

Mind you Trump is no angel. He certainly has more skeletons in his closet than an Ekka ghost train ride.

But at least he knows how to get America’s economy back on track and stand up to the bad boys like Xi Ping and Putin.

Whatever the outcome, Australia has much to win or lose from the US presidential election.
