Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary – January

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary welcomes visitors back to the park seven days a week through to  January 31, 2021. To celebrate, the Sanctuary is rolling out a jam-packed calendar of shows and events, a brand-new smartphone app to help visitors plan their day and an all-new augmented reality game the kids will love.

Visitors can slither into the all-new Aussie Scales and Tails Show daily at 11.45am, experience one of the world’s busiest Wildlife Hospitals in action from the new hospital viewing deck and participate in live conversations with the hospital’s vets and nurses daily at 12.30pm.

Tech-savvy tweens can immerse themselves in the ancient world of Lost Valley with the new augmented reality game. The Lost Valley Game, on Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s free interactive smartphone app, brings Lost Valley’s animals into the palm of your hand. Find and photograph virtual creatures hiding throughout the prehistoric supercontinent of Gondwana. Download the app, plan your day and play the Lost Valley Game.

SCOOP! January 15 – 17

SCOOP!, at HOTA, is a celebration of summer with plenty of ice cream, a sprinkle of circus, a dollop of sunshine and a splash of surprise. Featuring world-class entertainment and sweet treats across eight sessions, SCOOP! will see Queensland and Australia’s best circus, cabaret and acrobatic performers provide the backdrop to a multi-sensory playground of ice cream delights, pop-up beer gardens with live music and DJs, sideshow rides and refreshing dips in the HOTA lake.

Binna Burra – January school holidays

Binna Burra is home to some fantastic school holiday fun for children of all ages this summer.

Kids aged seven and over will love participating in the Re-Wilding sessions on Thursday and Saturday mornings. Full of fun, adventure and empowering games, the sessions are a great chance to learn some traditional living skills while connecting with nature. Activities may include rope skills, shelter and fire making, animal tracking and camouflage.

The entire family will love learning to shoot arrows with Binna Burra’s archery sessions. Guides will explain how to hold the bow and aim for the target … all you have to do is hit the bulls-eye. It’s a fun way to learn this ancient skill, which is great for hand-eye coordination.
