International developer SPG Land has hit a major milestone on the Gold Coast, officially kick-starting construction on its $1.5 billion Paradiso Place, marking the moment in a powerful fusion of construction and culture with a Chinese “purification ceremony” known as Sa Jing.

The landmark ritual signals that the project is now moving full steam ahead, with the international group bringing its own flavour to the Gold Coast, blending centuries-old cultural tradition with one of the most ambitious developments ever seen in the Gold Coast.

The purification ceremony, held on site, is a culturally significant tradition that symbolises respect for the land and the environment before construction begins. While rooted in Eastern culture, the ceremony is intended as an inclusive gesture that invites people of all backgrounds to appreciate its meaning.

“This ceremony is not only deeply significant in Eastern culture, but also reflects our broader values of respect, responsibility and harmony with the environment,” said David Wang, SPG Land Chairman.

“It is about ensuring harmony with the environment and acknowledging that we are not just building here but forming a partnership with the land.”

“By performing this ceremony, we’re setting the foundation for how this project will be delivered – with a focus on safety, care and respect, so the development progresses smoothly and the homes we create are places of peace and prosperity.”

“We hope everyone, regardless of their background or beliefs, can see this ceremony as a gesture of respect – for the land, the community and the shared future we are building here.”

Following the ceremony, the group will officially commence construction at Paradiso Place, a landmark mixed-use project that will deliver 845 luxury residences and a significant retail and lifestyle precinct.

Construction is being delivered by SPG Land’s in-house construction arm, in partnership with seasoned developer Eastview, who has a project portfolio exceeding $3.5 billion in construction value.

Located on a 1.15-hectare site stretching from Surfers Paradise Boulevard through to Ferny Avenue, Paradiso Place will ultimately comprise three architecturally striking towers of 41, 40 and 44 levels delivering a total of 845 apartments across the three towers. Adding to its appeal, each tower will showcase its own podium level interconnected by elevated skybridge to create a distinctive ‘beachside village’ experience for residents.

The unique mixed-use development will deliver world-class amenities and lobby areas, as well as a premium ground-floor retail, lifestyle and dining precinct designed to activate the streetscape and enhance the local community.

SPG Land, a company founded in Australia in 1998 with a focus on high-end real estate and premium hospitality assets, has delivered 56 projects in the Asia-Pacific region over the past twenty five years, including The Peninsula Hotel Shanghai and the Global 188 twin-tower project in Suzhou and Cambridge Residences at Robina.

SPG Land is a significant investor on the Gold Coast, with founder and chairman David Wang establishing a strong local presence through a growing portfolio of large-scale, high-quality developments.
