Aussie Wildlife Course – commences 5 February

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s Aussie Wildlife Course is an introductory course developed to train enthusiastic members of the community to provide emergency care for sick, injured or orphaned native wildlife. The course is presented by qualified zoological staff with years of experience   working   with   native   animals,  and will provide  practical sessions and  information to guide  you  through  the  course.  Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary has been caring for sick, injured and orphaned  native  wildlife  for  over  50  years, and  accepts  over  11,000 native animals  through  its  Wildlife  Hospital  every year. This course is conducted as an 8-week evening course or a weekend condensed course. The next 8-week course commences 5th February 2020 at 6pm.

International Ocean Film Tour – 12 February

The International Ocean Film Tour is headed to the Gold Coast with the best ocean adventures and environmental documentaries on board. This year’s program consists of 6 short films including JULIE, following a free diving filmmaker who has found her creative voice under the ocean’s surface; a special tour edit of the award-winning film Andy Irons – Kissed by God; and the environmental film Chasing the Thunder, where activists from Sea Shepherd put their lives on the line to protect endangered species.

LASER BEAK MAN I INTRODUCTION TO PUPPETRY WORKSHOP
Learn the versatile and incredible art form of puppetry in this two-hour workshop held by The Dead Puppet Society. This workshop will provide you with the skills to create characters and devise your own visual stories. You will learn a series of exercises and techniques, which are fundamental for the manipulation of focus, breath and gravity of puppetry. After participating in the workshop, you will not only know the tricks behind creating Laser Beak Man but also have the skills to start creating your own puppet performance.

Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships – 13-22 March

Beach Volleyball is set to reappear on Coolangatta Beach as the Southern Gold Coast hosts the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships, the newly created Australian Beach Volleyball Schools Cup and a round of the senior Australian Beach Volleyball Tour (ABVT) in March from 2020. The events will be run back to back on Coolangatta Beach from 13-22 March 2020.
