Kirra Beach Hotel Longboard Klassic: 11 August

The Kirra Beach Hotel Longboard Klassic is a single day longboard surfing event, designed to bring together like minded local amateur surfers. Attracting some of the best male and female surfers from the Southern Gold Coast region, the competition is open to anyone that enjoys surfing a longboard on Kirra’s iconic break. Ray "The Godfather" Gleave will also be giving a free ‘Surf Like a Pro’ workshop for competitors and spectators during the event. Beach Rugby Australia Festival: 6 – 8 September

Kirra Beach will transform into a football lover's paradise as teams compete on the sand for the second annual Beach Rugby Australia Festival. Beach Rugby Australia is presenting a spectacular, fast paced and exciting game based on modified rules of Rugby Union, Rugby League and Touch Football. There is no better place to host Australia’s annual international Beach Rugby tournament than the beautiful Kirra Beach. Swell Sculpture Festival: 13 – 22 September

Making a return in 2019 for its 17th year, Swell Sculpture Festival will see more than 50 awe-inspiring sculptures from local, national and international artists showcased along the Currumbin foreshore. On display for free over 10 days, the Festival will also give visitors the opportunity to participate in guided walks, artist talks and workshops, indulge in delicious food on The Green and enjoy live musical entertainment. Swell Sculpture Festival is an interactive, inspiring and uplifting event that will capture the hearts of all who visit.

Cooking on Country: Food Adventure - 7 September

Be immersed in culture and refine your culinary techniques with Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary’s Cooking on Country Food adventure. Led by a qualified Indigenous chef, participants will cook multiple recipes, and taste foods made with traditional Indigenous ingredients. Learn about traditional methods of food preparation, ways of collection and cooking, substitutes for today’s cooking and the unique flavours to reinvigorate your own kitchen table. Mini Adventures – 8, 10 & 12 July

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary now provides half-day school holiday programs!

Mini Adventures is designed specifically for our smallest adventurers aged 3 – 5 years old! Participants and their parents have the opportunity to get up close with some of our favourite reptile and insect friends, before getting hands-on with our nature craft and finishing with wildlife story-time. Parent participation is essential for 3 years old’s, and optional (but encouraged) for 4 and 5 year old’s. Each day is themed around a different children’s storybook, and runs from 8.30am to 11.30am.
