From fresh, citrus notes to bold and beautiful florals, spring’s newest fragrances call to mind sunnier days and flower-filled gardens in a single spritz. Here are the best new launches to introduce to your olfactory wardrobe this season.

 

The new arrival from Floris, Chypress, is an unmistakeable and captivating floral chypre for a new age. Woven with sparkling rose and bergamot zest wrapped in creamy orange flower and contrasted with tenacious patchouli, amber and musk, it is a scent filled with confidence and grace.

 

Equally enchanting is the unique II (deux) from Cire Trudon’s new genderless line of perfumes, Trudon. The Trudon scent’s vibrant greenery is a forest painting; pines, juniper and cedar covered in moss and berries on a damp earthy floor creating a highly unique fragrance – a modern eau de Cologne perfect for Spring.

 

Perfect for the warmer months, Sunny Side Up by Juliette Has A Gun recalls warm balmy days when the sun never seems to set and time is suspended. A seductive combination of sandalwood, musks, jasmine and coconut this scent evokes happiness and positivity, just in time for Spring.

 

With a joyful and sunny autumn wheat harvest in mind, Epidor by Lubin is another favourite; a rich autumn blend of sweet, musky violet and juicy plum lies on a bed of lush white florals. Jasmine and orange blossom mingle with tonka bean to transport the warmth of the setting sun and the splendour of the French countryside.

 

For the men, my pick this season is Beach Hut by Amouage creative director Christopher Chong. A carefree fragrance mélange of mint, orange blossom and galbanum radiating light green and sweet floral notes nuanced with sensuous musk, it liberates the senses unfolding to create the fragrant wild garden of a beach hit, where the sweeping sand dunes meet the sea.

As the summer draws to a close and we move towards the cooler, winter months, one is inclined to retreat inwards, spending more time indoors. Autumn is therefore the perfect time to focus on creating a perfect olfactory experience in the home, filled with flickering candle light and warm, gourmand and smoky notes, manifesting a sense of nostalgia and the idea that home is the only place you want to be.

An ambient atmosphere can be created with the perfect mix of candles and home fragrance. Cire Trudon is the world’s oldest and most revered candle manufacturer, renowned for its rich and royal narration, the strength of its legacy and its genuine commitment to quality. Start with Ernesto, their most famous scent, with moody notes of leather and tobacco combined with rum, clove, oakwood, patchouli, moss and amber.

A magical way to indulge in the romanticism of Cire Trudon is with La Promeneuse, a decorative home fragrance object designed to diffuse the house’s famed fragrances. After placing a scented wax cameo in the piece’s ceramic dish, a night-light is lit beneath it, causing the heated wax cameo to melt and spread its fragrance into the air.

Another essential from the collection are the iconic room sprays. These are perfumed decorative items; bottles are hand-made by an Italian glassmaker in Vinci. These can be used to fill your room with a beautiful scent or used on curtains and soft furnishings.

Another long-revered fragrance house, British brand Floris, has a beautiful collection of home fragrances dating back to the 1800s. My favourite for winter months is the Cinnamon & Tangerine or Sandalwood & Patchouli Candle.

A more contemporary offering comes from famed niche house L’Artisan Parfumeur. The house has just relaunched with a magnificent offering of personal and home scents. L’Artisan’s ‘Bougies Parfumees’ are handcrafted in Grasse, France, with each housing the brand’s most famous scents. Personally, for autumn, I adore Thé et Pain d’épices. It’s like tea time with gingerbread fresh from the oven and a steaming pot of Lapsang Souchong with notes of orange, smoked tea, cinnamon, ginger, anise, tobacco and honey.

Summer is a time for adventure and playful fun. It’s a time to relax and a time to embrace. I always recommend your perfume compliment your lifestyle and this season it’s all about fragrances that are green, floral and airy with a touch of summer fruit and spice.  

 

Iconic English perfume house Penhaligon’s have unveiled their highly original and evocative Portraits Collection and with four eau de parfums in the collection, it features a scent for every fragrance personality this season.

 

Masculine and enticing, The Tragedy of Lord George is an elegant fragrance with a modern twist on the timeless fougére theme of barbershop freshness. Blended with a shot of fruity and ambery rum, Lord George is a captivating and intoxicating summer fragrance.

 

Modestly uplifting, The Revenge of Lady Blanche is a refined and delicate scent. The green floral narcotic with notes of daffodil, angelica seed and ginger flower lends an element of excitement to the season.

 

A fun and modern interpretation of the perennial rose, The Coveted Duchess Rose is a not so innocent fresh translucent floral scent. Sweet and effervescent at first, a delicate and fruity mandarin creates a bright exuberance. It is truly a graceful and carnal scent.
