Rugby league legend Ray Price brought friends, supporters and golf enthusiasts together at the RACV Royal Pines Resort to raise vital funds for melanoma research.

On Monday 16 March 2026, the fairways of RACV Royal Pines Resort played host to the Ray Price Invitational Golf Day, a charity event that brought together sports legends, business supporters and golf lovers for an important cause. The day centred around raising funds and awareness for Melanoma Institute Australia, with all proceeds supporting life-saving research into one of Australia’s most dangerous cancers.

Former Parramatta Eels legend and dual international Ray Price — famously known as “Mr Perpetual Motion” during his rugby league career — hosted the event after his own battle with melanoma. Price and his wife Sandy were both diagnosed with the disease in 2020 and successfully fought it with the same determination that defined his fearless reputation on the football field.

Players teed off in teams of four in an Ambrose format, enjoying 18 holes on one of Australia’s premier championship golf courses. The day was filled with friendly competition, generous prizes and plenty of camaraderie, with several of Price’s former rugby league mates joining supporters and sponsors on the course to help drive the fundraising effort.

The event not only celebrated sport and community but also highlighted the importance of melanoma awareness and early detection. With the support of friends, fans and the wider Gold Coast community, Ray and Sandy Price once again turned a personal battle into a powerful opportunity to give back and help fund the vital work of melanoma research in Australia.
