The Gold Coast is set to welcome one of the nation’s most dynamic football events, with the Premier Invitational Opening Ceremony taking place on Friday 26th September at Magic United, Carrara.

Now in its 12th year, the Premier Invitational has grown into Australia’s largest junior football tournament. This year’s edition will see a record-breaking 670 teams—including 536 boys’ teams and 134 girls’ teams—take to the field, up from 500 in 2024. Over the course of the event, more than 120,000 players, spectators and staff are expected to attend, underscoring its reputation as a flagship sporting occasion for Queensland.

Proudly supported by Experience Gold Coast, the tournament is projected to deliver an economic benefit of $27–30 million to the state.

The Opening Ceremony will also celebrate the official unveiling of the new Women and Girls Changing Facilities at Magic United, a vital upgrade made possible through funding from the Queensland Government’s Minor Infrastructure and Inclusive Facilities Fund ($320,824), along with the City of Gold Coast Council and Cr Bob La Castra, Division 8 Community Facilities Funding.

The event marks not only the launch of a record-breaking tournament but also a milestone in creating inclusive opportunities for women and girls in football.
