McLaren Gold Coast Polo by the Sea – June 1

Returning in 2019, McLaren Gold Coast Polo by the Sea will enthral and entice connoisseurs and newcomers to this gregarious form of polo, as a massive entourage of horses, riders, officials, sponsors, VIPS and fashionistas converge on Doug Jennings Park, Main Beach, Saturday 1 June.

Popularising the sport of kings with a diverse demographic of spectators, Polo by the Sea has cemented its position as the Gold Coast’s premier event in the ultra-high-end segment, covering hospitality, entertainment, networking and brand positioning.

Renowned for attracting the best dressed coterie of revellers in the region, the event has become an annual rendezvous for the stylish and the seriously connected.

McLaren Gold Coast Polo by the Sea is unrivalled as the most elegant event on the social calendar — a magnet for ‘who’s who’.

This year’s VIP Marquee will for the second time be hosted by renowned master jeweller, Mark Cotterell, attracting a new wave of patrons and polo fans, also raising funds for the Gold Coast Community Fund which is the charity partner of the event.

The VIP Marquee is an invitation only facility and has at past events has hosted dignitaries, celebrities, and even Royalty, among them Federal Minister for Trade, Steven Ciobo and his accomplished wife Astra, John Paul and Stacey Langbroek, Mayor Tom Tate and the Lady Mayoress Ruth, stars from all sporting arenas, His Highness the Maharajah Raghav Raj Singh Shivrati of Udaipur and members of his Royal Court.

McLaren Gold Coast Polo by the Sea highlights all the attributes of the Gold Coast, conveying it as a sophisticated international destination which stands alone in our region.

The day’s proceedings begin at 11am and conclude at 5.30pm, then a shuttle service will operate from event grounds to the Official After Party.

In addition to two world class polo games, the event will be replete with activities throughout the day that sweep guests up into the action, ranging from the time honoured tradition of the divot stomp and the increasingly popular Fashion on the Field, which offers a slew of sensational prizes, and the Men’s and Ladies’ Dash, which with its jostling and jocular mood has become an event highlight!

The event can be enjoyed from the luxurious confines of the ‘Mark Cotterell Master Jeweller VIP Marquee’, where all-inclusive $330 tickets provide select guests with a selection of premium food and beverage. The Polo Club offers a mid-way point in between the invitation-only VIP Marquee or the more casual ‘Polo Lounge’, where $85 is your passport to enjoying the polo within a more casual ‘beer garden’ setting – all guests having the opportunity to mingle with star polo players and revel in the atmosphere, colour and competitive spirit.

Equal parts egalitarian and exclusive, guests are attracted to the sporting spectacle, athletic prowess of horse and rider, the fabulous fashion, buoyant boats, and simply soaking up the sublimely social aspect of meeting new people, savouring award-winning cuisine by Fresh Catering and spending time with friends, clients or family totally immersed in the brilliant, multi-faceted festivities.

URBAN POLO EVENTS

There is only one official Urban Polo circuit, now in its 14th year, comprising 10 events, making it the largest of its kind in the world. Urban Polo is the creation of Janek Gazecki, who saw an appetite for a more accessible form of the sport in a compact format ideal for urban areas, with modified rules, larger ball and a more social, laid back ambience. The suite of events includes the Land Rover Polo in the City event held in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide; Polo by the Sea — Gold Coast and Sydney’s Palm Beach; Beach Polo in Adelaide and, new last year, Polo in the Vines in the beautiful Hunter Valley and a Pop-Up Polo event in Rockhampton.
