Award-winning winery Marnong Estate has released its latest range of premium reds, just in time for the winter months. The new Marnong Estate wines include a 2024 Sangiovese, Montepulciano and Pinot Noir in addition to a 2023 Shiraz from the Single Vineyard range, as well as a 2024 Pinot Noir from the Estate range.

Nestled within one of Victoria’s oldest wine districts, Marnong Estate’s unique location in the Sunbury region is renowned for producing exceptional cool climate styles. Marnong Estate boasts a three-tier premium wine range – from the approachable Estate range to the super premium Single Vineyard collection and the luxurious Reserve options, with a drop to suit every palate and price point.

Marnong Estate Director of Wine Alex Beckett shares his insights on what makes the latest vintage outstanding. “At Marnong Estate, our home in the Sunbury district gives our wines a distinctive profile that sets them apart from other wine regions across Australia.”

“The Marnong Estate vineyards sit around 300 metres above sea level where Antarctic influences deliver cooling winds across the soils. Our wines are carefully crafted to capture the essence of the cool climate terroir through a balance of traditional and innovative techniques. The 2024 Single Vineyard collection is a perfect showcase of this – wines with remarkable complexity, refined structure, and a perfect harmony between fruit expression and savoury characters,” continued Alex.

These sophisticated reds from Marnong Estate are a wine-lovers winter dream – ideal companions for the season’s most comforting cuisine, from slow-cooked hearty stews to succulent roast chicken with all the traditional accompaniments, or perfect for sipping in front of an open fire.

Tasting notes & food pairings from Marnong Estate Director of Wine, Alex Beckett

2024 Single Vineyard Sangiovese – RRP $35

A medium bodied and vibrant Sangiovese. Lifted bay leaf and cherry aromatics lead into a cherry and red plum fruit profile framed by fresh acidity and fine grippy varietal tannin. Perfect to pair with your favourite, tomato-based Italian dishes, or mushroom based fare such as a hearty risotto.

2023 Single Vineyard Shiraz – RRP $40

A classic medium bodied Shiraz. White pepper and charcuterie aromas carry into a complex palate of black olive, wood spice, davidson plum and persistent graphite tannin. The bold flavour of this Shiraz makes it a perfect companion to roast lamb or to enjoy with dark chocolate for dessert.

2024 Single Vineyard Montepulciano – RRP $35

A full bodied and concentrated Montepulciano. Cassis and herbal leafy aromas lead into a rich and mouthcoating palate of blackberry and savoury herbal spice. Enjoy with roasted winter vegetables and sausage-based pasta dishes with a rich sauce. Montepulciano also pairs well with aged cheeses, perfect for winter entertaining.

2024 Single Vineyard Pinot Noir – RRP $40

A medium bodied and complex Pinot Noir. Wild strawberry, earthen spice, woodsmoke and saline mineral tones wrapped around crisp acidity and silky ripe tannin. Just the thing for roasted chicken or duck, with Pinot Noir also being a red that can be enjoyed with delicate seafood such as scallops or poached fish.

2024 Estate Pinot Noir – RRP $25

A light bodied pure Pinot Noir with alpine herbs and wild strawberry aromatics leading into a palate of raspberry, Smokey mineral tones and silken tannin. Perfectly paired with a mid-week pizza, especially a classic Margherita.
