The GC’s newest luxe, beachside salon has arrived in 
James Street, Burleigh Heads.

Hurrah — luxury hair salon brand Oscar Oscar salons has added another salon to their Queensland repertoire.

This will be their 14th salon in Australia — and those in the know say this is set to be one of their best.

Oscar Oscar has celebrated over 30 years creating award-winning and glamorous hair under the direction of celebrity hairdresser Oscar Cullinan, twice-awarded Australian Hairdresser of the Year.

First opening in Brisbane in 1989, Oscar Oscar spans 14 locations across Brisbane, Melbourne and the Gold Coast. It’s known for offering luxury services, the world’s best hair-care and styling products, relaxing treatments, indulgent client refreshment menus and sleek salon designs.

Gold Coast Swim Fashion Festival is Australia’s only swim and resort wear fashion multi-event programme. With fashion events taking place across the year, all across the Coast, there is a major focus on emerging design talent. A unique programme of workshops ran from November to December 2015 to assist young talent that hasn’t yet found major commercial cut through.

Other highlights include an awards show in January 2014, an Emerging Designer Trade Fair (17-19 June 2016) and the fashion festival shows (17-20 November 2016).

Festival Director, Leanne St. George says, “As part of our programme we have a range of initiatives that we facilitate with our curated designers. These include development and mentoring workshops as well as introduction events to assist in the development and promotion of our emerging designers participating in this category.”

The resort, swim and active wear fashion industry is very exciting for our region. It has an estimated value of $20billion by 2020*, and with China’s growing passion for these categories it has a commercial impact that currently sits at 13.1% in volume by sales. “This growth in sales added to the massive investment into integrated resorts on the Gold Coast makes our famous fashion a big hit with international tourists”, says St. George.

Australia’s leading fashion experts have also been very eager to ‘put back’ into the industry and help the festival grow design talent on the Gold Coast. Stylists, photographers, fashion agents, leading Australian fashion labels are all passionate about working with the festival in achieving this goal.

One of Australia’s foremost fashion stylists Kimberly Gardner, presented the first workshop for emerging designers in 2015. This was a full-scale fashion shoot with photographers, TV crew, make-up artists and models. The session went for 2 days working with 15 designers on the beach and poolside at the beautiful Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise.

Categories have been created for: swimwear, resort-wear, active-wear and Accessory Style Awards (headwear, bags, towels, footwear, jewellery).
