LEVEL-UP Skateboard facility

“Gold Coast has a new indoor skate and training facility located in Currumbin. Meaning that it is totally accessible and central to everything Gold Coast”.
Level -Up Skate Park and Training Facility
Originally located in Arundel, but has recently made the move south to Currumbin, a stone’s throw away from the beach and where all the action is.
This facility is unique and purposefully laid out in every way to promote progression for all levels, providing groms with mellow flat-banks, small quarter pipes and a perfect mini ramp for your first drop-in.
The innovation and new features are constantly evolving as I witnessed within a week from a previous session. A new set of stairs had been made and perfectly sized with a discussion taking place with a couple of pro- skaters: Kieran Woolley and Marley Rae. A hand-rail was being installed, it needed to be precisely the right height to challenge them, but essential to fit the progression of others using the facility. With this approach to all features added in the facility, resulting in the best solutions possible to suit all levels. The upstairs mezzanine level, upon entry: head left and up the stairs providing an awesome overview of the entire park to get your ‘bearings sorted’ and a great place to start to get familiar with all the features.
You will find seating up there too when you need to have a rest and watch the sessions taking place down below.
If you have your little-ones participating in a session, you can watch and keep an eye on them from above.
The passion for progression is very clear the moment you enter the facility like you know you’re going to have a good time and learn something new! There was a grom ramp session taking place whilst I was there, they were learning how to drop-in on the small ramps ‘no doubt would have seemed huge to the kids’. The support provided by their coach (Dylan Philips) feeding their stoke and confidence. It was awesome to watch. I could actually see the progression taking place as each drop-in, from the groms was getting better and better!!

If you’re a surfer you already know that ya can’t surf all the time!! Yep due to the conditions, lack of swell and un-favourable winds can really set you back in those flat spells.
Perhaps you really want to groom out your technique? Or you have the basics down and want to work on your ‘air’ game, but ya know you might be lucky to get 3-4 tries in a surf session when the conditions are right. Imagine if you could try 50 – airs in a session how good you’ll get! Level-up has the solution to that too.
THE SURF SK8 RAMP:
Surf Skating was developed by the Dogtown skaters Tony Alva and others back in the mid-’70s. Skateboarding and Surfing became polar opposites for 40 years but now they have converged and Surfing is now taking Skateboarding’s progression to the waves. Watch the Brazilians and Hawaiians – Are we keeping up?
The program will teach you how to ride a skateboard that will translate over to your surfing. Having a more neutral foot position will give you more board control on aerial take off. Enabling you to become more reactive to your environment by teaching you to develop better heel and toe balance and being light-footed on your board through learning the unique snap/pop off a ramp. Level – up has the Resi matt and foam pit to practice/train all your vertical ambitions over and over again in a safe environment. Working on carving forehand & Backhand that will help with surfing on your rails more and being more front foot driven dependent. Teaching you how to fall and become more resilient along with starting to dabble in switch stance skateboarding.
