MENTAL HEALTH
If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me
WORDS: Diane Demetre PHOTOGRAPHY Supplied
Each of us lives a life of our own making. Nothing ever happens to us by chance and nothing happens to us because we deserve to suffer. The old saying that everything happens for a reason tends to absolve us from taking responsibility for our lives. There’s a reason that everything happens—the reason is us.
Because we are energetic beings having a human experience, we act like energetic transmitters, broadcasting our vibrational frequency and attracting to us similar energy in the form of people and experiences. In fact, we are each responsible for our reality because nothing happens to us that we didn’t first influence in some way. What we feel, think, speak, perceive, believe, embody, enact, and energize repeatedly returns to us, like for like. We cannot demonstrate in the world of effects (our physical life) beyond what our current world of causes (our consciousness) embodies. Though this may challenge our conditioned thinking, the physics behind it is undeniable. We are each living a life of our choosing.
But you say, “I didn’t choose for the pandemic to change my way of life. I didn’t choose to lose my job or business.”
But we do have a choice in the present moment as to how we respond to our changed personal reality. We can choose to suffer and retreat or rise and thrive.
As Holocaust survivor and author Viktor Frankl wrote, “When we are no longer able to change the situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.”
One of the most pervasive myths in western culture today is that we’re entitled to a great life. That somehow, somewhere, someone is responsible for supplying us with a life of health, wealth, and happiness. But the truth is that there’s only one person responsible for the quality of the life we live. Us! If we want to create the reality we desire most, we must take responsibility for everything that we experience in life. But most of us operate from a limited human perspective and continue to blame something outside of ourselves for the parts of our life we don’t like. We blame our parents, our boss, our friends, the media, our colleagues, our clients, our spouse, the weather, the economy, the government, our lack of money and now the pandemic. We never want to look at where our reality begins—with us.
While we blame other people for the misery multiplying in our lives we’re caught in the dense energetic frequency of fear and spend our days frustrated, impatient and stressed. The more we amplify this energy, the more we attract into our reality fearful circumstances and conditions. But when we shift our perspective and feel the enlivening frequencies of hope, gratitude, joy, love, and faith in a brighter future, our circumstances and conditions begin to change to match our heightened vibrational resonance.
Though this takes a little practice, this simple process can help.
- Pay attention and become more conscious of what you are feeling and thinking.
- Be responsible for those feelings and thoughts without judging yourself or others.
- Consciously reach for a better feeling and a better thought straight away.
- Repeat this process regularly throughout the day to anchor in your new perspective.
The more we master our mindset and emotions, and practice being responsible for our personal reality, the more we create the destiny we desire most.
If you want to power up your energetic resonance and create a new reality, enrolments are now open for the 𝑀𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝑀𝑖𝑛𝑑𝑠𝑒𝑡 𝑀𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑜𝑑 𝐺𝑟𝑜𝑢𝑝 𝐶𝑜𝑎𝑐ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑃𝑟𝑜𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑚, a 6-week virtual course with weekly live group coaching sessions.
