Helensvale home to go Under the Hammer for Charity

WORDS: PHOTOGRAPHY

Tools are down at the 2019 House for Life charity home at Helensvale, with open homes commencing this month ahead of a highly anticipated auction.

The Hamptons-inspired four-bedroom family home will go under the hammer to support sick and premature babies being cared for at Mater’s Neonatal Critical Care Unit (NCCU) on Sunday, 8th September 2019.

The home is situated at the heart of the $500 million masterplanned community, The Surrounds.  This House for Life marks the eighth home that Plantation Homes has built and auctioned, with 100 per cent of the proceeds going to Mater Little Miracles, and the inaugural year partnering with Villawood Properties, who donated the land.

Sports presenter Sam Squiers has jumped on board as the House for Life ambassador, following the exceptional care she received at Mater Mothers’ Hospital after the birth of her baby.

Sam’s 24 month-old daughter Imogen (Immi), was born at 32 weeks at Mater weighing only 1.3kgs. She spent seven weeks at Mater’s NCCU with regular hospital stays for the first five months of her life.

“I have experienced first-hand the incredible work and commitment of Mater’s NCCU for all sick and premature babies and the level of care Imogen has had so far on her road to recovery.  We had a challenging journey ahead of us as a family, but we knew that Mater was with us all the way.”

The 51 sq m custom-built home boasts an extravagant master bedroom with ensuite and two dressing rooms.  The spacious and well-appointed designer kitchen features a walk-in butler’s pantry, SMEG™ appliances and Caesarstone™ grand island bench. It is the definition of the ultimate family home with five designated living spaces for entertaining family and friends. The House for Life also boasts a stunning pool, which suits the beautiful Hamptons-inspired architecture and interiors.

Mater Foundation executive director of fundraising Lesley Ray expressed her gratitude to the team of dedicated volunteers who have donated their time and resources to build the incredible charity home.

“It’s wonderful to see such community spirit and generosity from people who truly care about Mater and the care provided to our tiniest patients,” she said.

“We all look forward to the House for Life auction day, when we witness a beautiful house sold to a family, knowing that every dollar is going to babies who require specialised care at Mater’s Neonatal Critical Care Unit.

“We sincerely like to thank Plantation Homes for their ongoing support of Mater Little Miracles and Villawood Properties which have so kindly donated the land for this year’s campaign.”

High profile real estate agent and record-breaking auctioneer, Damien Cooley, will spearhead the highly anticipated auction. During Damien’s 20-year career in real estate, he has sold more than 30,000 properties, including 11 sought after properties on Channel 9’s The Block.
