On Friday the 3rd of November 2017, Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa will celebrate 25 years of service on the Gold Coast by resurrecting a hidden treasure chest filled with prizes from the Hotel lagoon.

When the Hotel opened 25 years ago, a commemorative treasure chest was thrown into the lagoon. Surfers Paradise Marriott is recreating this legacy by filling a new chest with prizes and giving 25 key holder the opportunity to open the chest and win the ultimate holiday experience in the resort’s Presidential Suite. Once unlocked, the chest will be filled with Hotel memorabilia and placed into the lagoon for another 25 years.

General Manager Neeraj Chadha says the lagoon is unique to the Marriott, and is the only Hotel on the Gold Coast to offer the opportunity to swim with tropical fish.

“Our guests love snorkelling with the fish, so it was important to incorporate it into our anniversary celebrations.” Mr. Chadha says.

The renowned property has played host to celebrities, royalty and thousands of holiday makers over the years and boasts Trip Advisor’s top Gold Coast Teppanyaki Restaurant and Seafood Buffet.

“Our food offerings are exceptional, we employ more than 70 chefs who come from all corners of the world and offer authentic cuisine in our food outlets, Citrique, Misono and Chapter & Verse,” Mr Chadha says.

Mr. Chadha continued that an integral part of the Hotel’s success is due to their brilliant associates who offer an emblematic commitment to delivering the very best guest experience.

“Many of our Associates have been with the Hotel for decades and quite a few have actually worked here since pre-opening 25 years ago,” Mr. Chadha says.

Over the 25 years, Surfers Paradise Marriott have made 2,137,703 beds, hosted 1,250 weddings and welcomed 4,061,635 guests.

Marriott International’s Area Vice President – Australia, New Zealand & Pacific, Sean Hunt says Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa has been an integral part of Marriott’s journey over the last 25 years.

“Our brilliant hosting philosophy is truly showcased within the resort’s team and I am pleased to be sharing the celebration with over 300 associates,” Mr. Hunt says.

In 2011, the Hotel was given a $20 million dollar facelift which included upgrades to 329 rooms and multiple restaurants, a remake of the hotel lobby and exterior entry.

“Throughout the years, the Hotel has advanced and has always offered guests a sophisticated five star service with a laid back Queensland charm,” Mr. Chadha says.

Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa has seen the Gold Coast landscape evolve over the years. The popular light rail now runs past the Hotel, and transports guests to shopping destinations, restaurants and entertainment precincts.

Surfers Paradise Alliance CEO Mike Winlaw says the local holiday-makers choose to stay at Marriott because they can enjoy tropical world-class amenities without leaving the Hotel.

“Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa adds a level of sophistication, luxury and style to Surfers Paradise. The superior dining venues and poolside space has meant visitors from near and far have been able to experience a wide offering in one convenient location for the past twenty five years. We wish the Resort and dedicated team continued success,” Mr. Winlaw says.

The 25th anniversary will be celebrated all weekend with accommodation specials, dining packages and VIP events.

“The Hotel will be in celebration mode all weekend and we invite all of our past guests, employees and locals to take part,” Mr. Chadha says.
