Krish Indian Cuisine has opened its fifth restaurant on the Gold Coast. ORM has the tasty scoop from Southport…

When we last caught up with the multi-award-winning Krish Indian – widely considered the best Indian restaurant on the coast – the owners were about to open their fifth restaurant on the Gold Coast.

“Our Southport restaurant has been open since June and is going really well,” Devi Prasad tells ORM. “It was a huge relief to finally open as COVID had held up our building plans for some time. We’re so happy and relieved to have finally opened the doors!

“All Krish Indian Cuisine restaurants are North Indian restaurants which offer the very best in modern Indian cuisine. Our location in Southport is just perfect, we’re literally 5 metres from the movies so we’ve found that our customers love popping in for a meal either before or after they go to the cinema. Our chef at Southport, Asmita, is originally from Fiji and has a wealth of knowledge about food. She worked at restaurants in Fiji for many years and has now brought her experience and culinary talents to Krish Indian Cuisine. She’s very creative and her cooking is amazing!”

Founded by the Prasad family, Krish Indian Cuisine has won the Best Family Restaurant and Best Indian Restaurant awards and is loved by thousands of valuable customers.

“Our customers at Southport – and our other restaurants – love our food and our service. We’re very organised and pride ourselves on cooking all our food fresh to order, with no delays. Goat is our specialty (either curry, Bhuna or Madras) right now, and our Butter Chicken is the best in town! So, if you enjoy Butter Chicken, do come and visit to try,” says Devi.

The Prasad family started their business in 2005 when the family moved here from Fiji.

“We’ve been trading for 19 years now, which is a very long time in this business,” she tells us. “Our main restaurant in Robina is open 7 days for lunch and dinner. We’re passionate about keeping our customers happy!”

Across the five restaurants, Devi says Krish Indian pride themselves on

bringing over the very best, top chefs from all over India.

“Customers like rotating through our restaurants because each chef brings something a little different to their menu, depending on the region in India they’re from. It’s a real point of difference at Krish Indian. Top chefs come and showcase their culinary experience; that’s what makes us different and we’ve needed that to achieve and maintain such success.”

Whether you enjoy your food hot or subtly mild, Krish Indian will have something perfect for your palate. Ocean Road Magazine publishers Brian and Melissa Usher have been clients of Krish Indian for many years. “It’s simply the best Indian food I have ever eaten. There is so much flavour and such a great selection including vegetarian dishes which Melissa loves.” says Brian.

All Krish Indian meals are served in either mild, medium or hot – you get to choose. So, if you like a creamy Korma, you could try the Lamb Korma (nutty & cream) or the Butter Chicken which is simply superb.

You’ll find all the Indian favourites: Chicken Tikka, Lamb Korma, Chicken Biryani, Lamb Roganjosh and more.

The Fijian Indian influence of its owners is one point of difference between Krish and other Indian restaurants on the coast.

Start with Samosas, Bhajis or Pakora. Choose a soup (lentil, chicken & corn, pumpkin), a main (Tandoori, Chicken, Biryani, or seafood) and your selection of rice (saffron, coconut, lemon, cumin & peas).

You may like to try Tandoori Boti – tandoor-grilled lamb cutlets with sizzling vegetables, Fijian Fish Curry, Krish’s Spicy Prawns, Krish’s Banquet ($29.99 p/person) including entrée and seafood banquet.

And to finish off your meal before you head to the movies how about Sticky Date Pudding or Gulab Jamun (sweet dumpling)?

See you there!
