Gold Coast World Surfing Reserve organisers of the 2026 World Surfing Conservation Conference in February, hosted a fundraiser event “Froth Sesh” with World Surfing Champion Cheyne Horan & Brazilian Samba Dancing for a Sunday afternoon session at The Collective.
Chris Freeman aka Sun Haus provided the Latino DJ beats warming up the crowd who enthusiastically participated in the Samba that included Capoeira demonstration.

Cheyne Horan talking and doing his best impersonation of Robert Redford!!
Whistles, drums, & feathers stoked the crowd whipping them into a frenzied conga line of samba dance circling the upstairs roof top bar in an infectious high vibed atmosphere of afternoon entertainment thanks to Maria Heneghan and her amazing dancers.
Cheyne Horan one of the all-time Australian greats of professional surfing did not hold back recalling legendary stories of his epic surfing adventures on the world tour including a near fatal drowning in Hawaii.

Drummers
One of the highlights of the afternoon was to witness Miami surfer Mick Landon a former Qld 2X consecutive junior champion (1984 -85) win the raffled Cheyne Horan/Matt Biolos “Rad Zapper” surfboard donated by Surfboard Empire. Mick had grownup looking up to Cheyne as a surfing hero and christened the board two days later saying, “I absolutely love it!”
