How an Aussie entrepreneur turned copper water bottles into a thriving business.
A tired Aussie man’s mission to reignite his ‘spark’ for life has turned into Australia’s leading copper drinkware brand.
In 2019 Shawn Singh found he was rundown and bogged down in the mundane tasks of daily life.
“In my mid to late twenties I became very lethargic. I found it hard to get out of bed. I was slow and sluggish. I was losing motivation to go to the gym and was stuck in this daily grind of ‘’go to work and come home’,” Mr Singh said.

At the push from his mother, Shawn sought the advice of an Ayurveda health practitioner who prescribed an unusual remedy.
“She suggested I drink from a copper water bottle. I gave it a go, and I noticed a real change,” Mr Singh said.
“It was almost like I had my old self back. I had a lot more energy and greater mental clarity.”
But a few months later, Shawn lost his copper lifeline, so he set out to find a replacement, and hit a wall.
“There really were no high quality, pure copper water bottles on the Australian market,” Mr Singh said.

“At the time I was working in a demanding role as Head of Operations for a successful start-up, but I saw a gap. There was no leader for copper drinkware or homewares, and I thought I could change that.”
After trial and error with suppliers, Copper Culture was born.
Copper Culture drinkware is ethically sourced and handcrafted by skilled artisans in India.
Every piece is guaranteed 99% pure copper, ensuring the user can enjoy the medicinal benefits of the alloy, and is designed to last for up to 50 years.
“It’s really important to me to honour my Indian culture and Vedic tradition, while offering a beautiful and functional product,” Mr Singh said.
Copper water bottles are naturally antibacterial. The copper ionises the water (if stored correctly for at least three hours) and kills harmful bacteria including E.Coli, S.aureus and Cholera Bacillus.
This makes it ideal for those who need safe drinking water.
Copper infused water is also believed to offer a range of health benefits like reducing inflammation, speeding up wound healing, increasing energy levels, improving skin and aiding weight loss.
Since launching at the end of 2022, Copper Culture has attracted a loyal following of thousands of happy customers.

“We have so many people who are copper converts after trying our drinkware,” Mr Singh said.
“People really do feel a difference, but they also love that they’re supporting an Australian business that gives back to an industry in a developing country. Plus, the copper bottles look great too.”
In the last financial year, Copper Culture made $650,000 in revenue, and in 2025 is on track to double last year’s total- making over $70,000 each month.
The brand has expanded its range to include copper jugs, mugs, coasters and bracelets, combining traditional wellness with elegant aesthetics.
Shawn credits word of mouth, taking on customer feedback and influencer marketing for the brand’s success and is now expanding into the US market.
“We have a container of 10,000 bottles on its way to the US right now. We’ve had lots of interest from customers over there and I’m excited to grow that market,” Mr Singh said.
“We aim to be the Number One copper drinkware brand outside of India, in the world.”
