The Gold Coast development industry is mourning the loss of one of its rising stars, Tye Alroe.
Alroe, 39, head of Alroe Construction’s, passed away of a suspected heart attack during a gym session at Burleigh Heads yesterday.
Tye Alroe was a proud Gold Coast local and family man who transformed his passion for construction into the leading development company, Alroe.
Born and raised in Queensland, Tye began his career as a football player for Melbourne Storm, but at the age of 19, he joined the construction industry as a bricklayer, before completing his carpentry apprenticeship with a luxury builder.
In 2008, Tye established his own carpentry business. The venture quickly gained recognition for its craftsmanship and commitment to quality, leading to Tye’s partnership with Hutchinson Builders, marking his transition from tradesman to builder.
In 2012, Tye founded Alroe, signalling his first steps into the development industry. Within the year, he had built his first house, laying the building blocks of Alroe. Today, Alroe has a workbook of $185 million, with recent projects including the $31 million The Finn in Mermaid Beach, which is now completed with all residents moved in.
Alroe is now one of the Gold Coast’s leading boutique developers, renowned for delivering high-quality luxury homes and townhouses through its in-house construction arm.
Alroe’s in-house construction capability is a key factor in the company’s ability to deliver on time and to specification, with better cost control and consistently high quality.
With Alroe, Tye had tapped into the middle market for premium apartments and boutique projects, offering a low-risk alternative to large towers.
Alroe currently has one project under construction, the $31 million Lune in Main Beach, offering six expansive villa-style residences with floorplans ranging from 296 sqm to 340 sqm, designed to meet the growing demand for boutique luxury apartments that provide house-like proportions and high levels of privacy.
“Tye was an exceptional businessman, and an even better bloke,” said property industry figure, Steve Hunt, Founder and CEO of Media Hunt.
“He was one of the rising stars of the Gold Coast development industry and was very well respected by all within the industry, including builders, tradespeople and contractors.”
“The industry is devastated by the untimely passing of such an industry go-getter.”
Alroe’s portfolio includes a range of boutique residential projects delivered across South East Queensland and Northern NSW, with a growing reputation for precision, reliability, and design excellence.
The Alroe team is looking to continue delivering high-quality residential projects into the future.
Tye is survived by his partner Nikki, his daughter Poppy, his mum and dad, Vicki and John, and his sister Courtney.
