How Gold Coast local Tye Alroe turned a passion for construction into one of the region’s leading development companies
Tye Alroe, a proud Gold Coast local, has transformed his passion for construction into an industry-leading development company, Alroe.
Born and raised in Queensland, Tye’s journey began in the world of football where he’d dreamed of an NRL career and he was quickly signed with Melbourne Storm. However, by the age of 19, Tye’s ambitions took a turn as he discovered his passion for construction, setting him on a new path toward building his future.

Tye’s entry into the construction industry came when he landed a job as a bricklayer, where he gained valuable insights into the construction world. This early exposure was followed by completing a carpentry apprenticeship with a luxury builder, which would later become the foundation of his success. The skills and work ethic he developed through these experiences are what would later lay the foundations of Alroe.
“My first job in construction taught me the importance of hard work, resilience, and immersing myself in every aspect of the construction process – I learned quite quickly the significance of having a strong work ethic,” said Tye.
In 2008, Tye took a significant step by starting his own carpentry business. What began as a modest venture quickly gained recognition for its craftsmanship and commitment to quality, propelling his business into rapid growth. As Tye expanded, he partnered with Hutchinson Builders and soon found himself managing a team of 64 – marking a pivotal moment in his journey from tradesman to builder.
In 2012, Tye took the leap into property development with the creation of Alroe. Tye built his first house that year, marking the beginning of what would become a highly successful career in property. From custom carpentry to renovations, Tye gained hands-on experience in every facet of property development, eventually making his mark in the property market.
“2012 was an extremely exciting year, I built my first house and really started to get involved with the property development process” said Tye.
As Alroe continued to evolve, the company faced its share of challenges. However, Tye used these obstacles to refine the business and expand his team, setting the stage for even greater success in the years to come.
Today, Alroe is one of the Gold Coast’s leading boutique developers, renowned for delivering high-quality luxury homes and townhouses. With a turnover of $50 million and a workbook of $185 million, the company has grown into a dynamic team of 54 employees. Alroe’s portfolio now includes ambitious projects such as the $62 million Lune and The Finn developments, designed to meet the growing demand for exclusive, low-risk residential options.
“I am really grateful for where I am today. Alroe has grown into a strong, trusted company, and I’m really proud of the work we’re doing,” said Mr Alroe.
From a young Queensland local with big dreams of NRL glory to the founder of a multi-million-dollar property development company, Tye Alroe’s story is one of resilience, hard work, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.
