WORDS: Brian Usher PHOTOGRAPHY Experience Gold Coast
Cricket legends, community leaders, and fans united for an unforgettable evening celebrating the return of international cricket to the Gold Coast.
The Gold Coast came alive on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, as guests gathered for Beyond the Boundary: A White Ball Dinner — a spectacular evening hosted by Experience Gold Coast at HOTA, Home of the Arts. Set under the open sky on the venue’s outdoor stage, the event honoured the enduring spirit of cricket and marked the exciting return of international men’s cricket to the city. Guests arrived dressed in elegant whites, ready to celebrate the sport’s unifying power and the strong ties between Australia and India.
The evening featured a decadent Indian-inspired menu and curated beverages, complemented by live entertainment and a lively atmosphere that perfectly captured the energy of the game. Highlights included a fascinating panel discussion with Shane Watson and Holly Ferling exploring cricket’s next generation, life beyond the field, and the sport’s evolving future. A particularly memorable moment came when Steve Waugh, one of the game’s all-time greats, shared insights from his illustrious career and reflected on the history and intensity of the Australia–India rivalry — setting the tone for the thrilling match to follow. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Bharat Sundaresan, International Cricket journalists and commentator.
A heartfelt thank you went to John Warn, CEO of Experience Gold Coast, for hosting such a remarkable event and for his instrumental role in bringing T20 International Cricket back to the Gold Coast. The dinner set the stage beautifully for the main feature — Australia versus India at Carrara Stadium the following evening — reminding all in attendance that the Gold Coast is once again firmly on the map for world-class sport, culture, and celebration.
