Award Winning Destination Dining

WORDS: Corrine Barraclough PHOTOGRAPHY Supplied

There is simply no better way to enjoy the Tweed hinterland views than a long lunch or dinner at the award-winning Tweed River House.  Perched perfectly over the Tweed River, sitting gracefully among the lush greenery and cane fields of the Murwillumbah hinterland, resides this 100-year-old magnificently restored colonial mansion.

We’ve paired exceptional food and wine with warm, efficient, friendly service. It’s beautiful and elegant, but with country grace.  Dine as though you have stepped back in time to a gentler era and pace of life.

Guests can come and dine here for three hours, surrounded by natural beauty, and forget about life for a while.

Tweed River House opened its doors only 18 months ago and has already won a Hat Award in the esteemed Australian Good Food Guide in both 2022 and 2023.

Executive Chef Joseph McGrattan has curated a locally sourced, sustainable, Provencal-inspired menu, which is changed each season with seasonally selected ingredients on an ever-evolving menu.

Dine on the River Verandah with its sweeping panoramic views, or inside in the Raffles-inspired Dining Room.

For a super special occasion, consider The Chandelier Private Dining Room – with fine linens, crystalware and your own butler who will hand deliver a side of extra elegance underneath the 110-year pressed metal ceiling.

We offer a prix fixe style menu, 2 courses for $70, 3 courses for $89, where guests choose their own selections from each course. There’s also our popular 5-course Tasting $120, which people love for a leisurely lunch or dinner and for the ultimate, a 9 course Degustation $170

The extensive wine list consists of fine vintages sourced from both Australia and France. “The price point of wines and champagnes ranges from $12 to more than $150. There truly is something for everyone’s budget and taste.”
