Ocean Road stepped behind the barrel doors to experience one of Australia’s most historic distilling destinations.

The Ocean Road team recently enjoyed an immersive day at Beenleigh Artisan Distillery, discovering firsthand the craftsmanship, heritage and character behind one of Australia’s most iconic rum producers. Set alongside the river and rich with history, the experience offered a fascinating look into the distillation process and the traditions that have helped shape the distillery’s enduring reputation.

The visit began with a guided tour through the working distillery, where the team explored each stage of production, from fermentation through to ageing and blending. Walking among copper stills, timber barrels and production spaces provided a unique perspective on the attention to detail that goes into every bottle. The experience continued with a curated rum tasting, allowing the team to sample a selection of signature expressions while learning about the flavour profiles, production methods and stories behind each release.

Following the tasting, the team settled in for a relaxed lunch overlooking the grounds, reflecting on an afternoon that balanced history, hospitality and local craftsmanship. Combining immersive storytelling, exceptional produce and an authentic Queensland experience, the visit delivered a memorable outing and offered a deeper appreciation for one of the region’s most celebrated distilling institutions.
