The Princess fleet has returned from this year’s Whitsunday Rendezvous, a four-day getaway serving up a smorgasbord of 5-star experiences on land and water.

A total of 11 boats from 52 to 98-feet and 60 guests headed north with the Princess Australia team led by Greg Haines. For those guests anticipating delivery of their new Princess models, the Rendezvous was the chance to immerse themselves in the camaraderie the brand is renowned for.

“It has become a much-anticipated tradition among our owners and their friends,” explained Greg.

“This year we nearly doubled our numbers and we added an extra day so people could really unwind and make the most of the sensational location and all it offers.”

Hayman Island was the epicentre of the event, and those guests who didn’t stay aboard their yachts at the Marina, were treated to the pinnacle of luxury at InterContinental Hayman Island Resort.

At the northernmost point of the Whitsundays, Hayman Island is a private island resort specialising in every imaginable experience in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef: snorkelling, diving, fishing, hiking, gourmet dining and adventures on neighbouring islands.

On the first night, guests gathered to break the ice at a lavish cocktail party at Aqua, Hayman Island’s poolside restaurant, with thanks to event partner Awlgrip.

Festivities then relocated to Pool Lanai, a sublime venue fringed by rainforest and lily-pad lagoons, for a sumptuous seafood banquet complemented by free-flowing Veuve Clicquot and supported by event partner, Volvo Penta.

The next day, after a lazy morning of swimming and savouring the balmy tropical surrounds, guests travelled in convoy to Chances Bay for the Princess Signature Event, the beach lunch.

Here, guests were treated to a delectable spread from the culinary masters at Fish Devine who served up some of Queensland’s most succulent seafood, supported by event sponsor, Seakeeper.

Kids and the young at heart tried their hands at Skurfing, kneeboarding and Fliteboard, an electric foiling surfboard which led to much hilarity, spills and the satisfaction of learning a new skill.

As the sun set on day 2, guests returned to Hayman Island Marina content and in high spirits.

Day three was a lay day for people to enjoy the full range of facilities at InterContinental Hayman Island Resort. The junior set was able to participate in the Planet Trekkers Kids’ Club, which involved getting their hands stuck into pizza dough and toppings with the patient and creative Chefs at the Italian Restaurant, Amici.

That evening, everybody reunited for a spectacular cocktail party on the Bam Bam lawn, at the edge of the Resort’s shimmering Infinity Pool. This magical soiree was hosted by Hayman Estates and Sanctuary Cove Marina and guests celebrated their final evening together under starry skies.

The final day was devoted to relaxation and recovery, and guests were able to recline and soak up some serenity under cover of the Bam Bam Cabanas on the beachfront, presented by CEO Magazine.

Guests could take their pick among a grazing ‘Hawkers lunch’ of Pan-Asian-inspired fresh seafood, sushi and a sizzling barbeque of lamb cutlets, chicken, prawns, steak and sausages, washed down with Veuve Clicquot Rich Rosé which was just the tonic to toast new friends made and new adventures.

The support of additional partners, Bentley, The Boat Works and Club Marine Insurance ensured the success of this year’s Princess Rendezvous.

And while the Princess fleet departed the Hayman Island Marina that afternoon, most owners chose to extend their stay and savour the myriad delights of the Whitsundays at favoured anchorages in Sid Harbour and Nara Inlet.

Those who attended were unanimous in their praise for the Princess Australia team, the warm hospitality of Hayman Island and their appreciation for the skills learned and memories made over the four-day Rendezvous.

“It could only be described as a world-class event,” said the owner of LADY H. “The venue was outstanding, the organisation was outstanding and it certainly made us feel very proud to own a Princess motor yacht and be associated with such a quality brand and fantastic people.”

Another owner was thrilled with every aspect of the getaway and commented, “simply the best of everything, real indulgence, and an event to remember.”

One couple said the event has become “one of the highlights of the year each year us and our kids” and pledged “You have customers for life!”

“That’s what it’s all about,” stated Greg. “To bring to life the aspects of boating we all love – family, fine food and fun – all in one perfect place. Princess embodies that ethos, and our owners love it!”
