ANIKO GROUP SECURES APPROVAL FOR $2 BILLION LANDMARK DEVELOPMENT AT MERMAID BEACH

Prolific developer George Mastrocostas has been given the green light to proceed with his $2 billion development in one of Queensland’s most exclusive suburbs, Mermaid Beach.

Mr Mastrocostas’ Aniko Group, which has a multibillion-dollar pipeline of projects along the east coast of Queensland, has won council approval to build a four-tower luxury mixed-use precinct, to be dubbed ‘The Landmark’, in one of the largest developments ever undertaken on the Gold Coast.

A long-vacant 1.1342ha site on the corner of the Gold Coast Highway and Seaview Avenue will be transformed into a vibrant residential-resort destination that will include an integrated collection of residential apartments, offices, medical, a luxury hotel and a ground-floor retail and dining precinct.

Aniko’s vision for The Landmark is to create a new lifestyle and tourism heart for Mermaid Beach that will leverage its prime location as the southern gateway to the heart of the Gold Coast’s bustling central beachside suburbs.

“We are thrilled to have been granted approval to proceed with this transformational development that has been designed to create a self-sufficient environment within a community where people can live, work and play,” said Mr Mastrocostas, the Aniko Group managing director.

Mr Mastrocostas’ plans include three residential towers of 25, 30 and 40 storeys – and a further 53-level tower that will include a mix of hotel suites and private hotel branded residences.

“The Landmark, designed by award-winning firm Plus Architecture, will deliver a collection of 821 residences, over 10,000sqm of A-grade commercial office and medical space and a vibrant new casual fine dining and beverage precinct on the ground floor,” said Mr Mastrocostas.

Apartments have been designed to cater to a range of buyers, and residents will have access to world-class amenities on an expansive 1Ha recreation podium that will be truly unmatched.

“The Landmark will have every conceivable amenity on site for residents, hotel guests and office tenants while being just a short walk to everything that Mermaid Beach and nearby Broadbeach have to offer,” said Mr Mastrocostas.

“Residents will have access to facilities they are more likely to find in a holiday resort while hotel guests will have ready access to everything the Coast has to offer from the beach to shopping and theme parks.”

A key component of The Landmark project will be the dedicated ground-floor dining precinct that will offer world-class waterfront fine dining adjacent to Pacific Fair.

“This will create a new must-visit location for Mermaid Beach that further enhances the existing lifestyle and dining facilities in nearby central Broadbeach,” said Mr Mastrocostas.

Now that approval has been granted, Aniko is laying plans to officially launch The Landmark to the market in early 2024. Construction of the first stage is expected to begin by the end of next year.
