The Casuarina Rec Club "Family Activity Test Team" do a photo shoot of an activity in the Tweed Shire, Gold Coast or Byron Shire for each issue of OCEAN ROAD MAGAZINE. The shoot for the spring issue was hot air ballooning! Byron Bay Ballooning were our operators, our captain Thomas is the current Australian Ballooning Champion. Between Thomas and his crew we were in great hands.

This is how the local and international acclaimed surf legend Bob McTavish opened the inaugural 2011 Byron Bay Surf Festival and was honoured to be part of this 3day fusion of community focused events pertaining the creative culture within surfing including surf – art, music, film, photography, surf markets, workshops, surf history display, kids stART me up events, surf swap meet, freestyle&stoke expression session, surf demo’s, mermaids, charities and more... ‘SURF CULTURE NOW’

Sanctuary Cove’s FREE school holiday activities

Sanctuary Cove has kids’ entertainment covered these school holidays, with a line-up of great FREE activities taking place in The Village Green from Monday 2 – Sunday 8 July.

Kids can enjoy the fantastic new Adventure Playground, train rides around the streets of The Marine Village and treats including fairy floss and popcorn. Activities run from 11.00am – 2.00pm daily and are guaranteed to keep the kids happy!

Paddle for Prostate Charity Regatta at Sanctuary Cove

Paddle for Prostate, Charity Regatta, Sanctuary Cove

Mulpha Sanctuary Cove is pleased to host the 2012 Paddle for Prostate Charity Regatta and Dragon Boat Challenge on Sunday, June 24. This fun-filled annual event raises much-needed funds for Cancer Council Queensland to support prostate cancer research.

For the fifth consecutive year, The Marina at Sanctuary Cove will be the site of a challenging long-distance paddle and exciting sprint races. Everyday heroes will take to the water for a day of light-hearted competition, raising awareness and funds for a very worthy cause.

The event will kick off at 10.30am with a dragon boat paddle of the Gold Coast Broadwater, beginning at Paradise Point and finishing at the Sanctuary Cove Marina. Teams will then hit the water from 12.30pm to take part in the thrilling sprint races.

Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to relax with a free sausage sizzle and prize draws. One lucky person will also win an overnight stay for two at five-star luxury resort, Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove.
