Sanctuary Cove hosts Miss Universe Australia 2012 Queensland Preliminaries

Thousands of young women from around the country will compete for the Miss Universe Australia Crown and the opportunity to represent Australia at NBC and Donald Trump’s International Miss Universe Pageant.

From among the hopefuls, the most beautiful, talented, educated and confident young woman will be selected to win the coveted Miss Universe Australia title and join the ranks of Jesinta Campbell and Scherri-Lee Biggs.

The success of Australia’s past contestants has resulted in an upsurge in the number of entrants for 2012, with a record number of women from all over the state joining the race for the crown.

The Miss Universe Australia 2012 Queensland Preliminaries will be held Friday 24th – Saturday 25th February at The Marine Village Sanctuary Cove, outside The Village Theatre. The heats will be held on Friday 24th at 2.30pm and 4.30pm, followed by the final on Saturday 25th at 12.00pm. Entry is free, so come along and throw your support behind Queensland’s gorgeous and talented contestants. Miss Universe Australia will be crowned in June at the National Final Crowning Ceremony in Melbourne.

Evolving into an international, annual tradition from a local “bathing beauty” competition held in 1952, the Miss Universe Pageant has become a massive worldwide phenomenon, hosted by countries in every corner of the globe from Brazil to Vietnam. Miss Universe is the second most-watched event in the world, behind only the World Cup, attracting over three billion viewers.

The Queensland contestants will bring their unique beauty and talent to the preliminaries, and what better place to celebrate the Sunshine State’s gorgeous young women than Australia’s leading resort-style community, Sanctuary Cove. The waterfront Marine Village provides a stunning backdrop to appreciate the best that Queensland has to offer.
